Has anyone else here been following the case of Tomorry Hill from back in 2017? It's so distressing to think about the ongoing struggle faced by communities like West Englewood. Tomorry was just 20 years old, with his whole life ahead of him. Every time I hear about another young life taken so abruptly and senselessly, it makes me wonder about the deeper issues that need addressing. It's not just about increasing police presence; it's about truly understanding and tackling the root causes of gun violence in these neighborhoods. Poverty, lack of access to quality education, and insufficient community resources are all factors that seem to create this cycle of despair. I hope that those in positions to make changes can listen and implement strategies that uplift these communities. My heart goes out to Tomorry’s family and all the other families affected by this violence—no one should have to endure such pain and loss. What measures do you think could be most effective in creating real change and ensuring safety and support for all residents? Would love to hear others' thoughts.

I just stumbled upon the tragic case of Tomorry Hill, and I can’t stop thinking about the role that community support, or the lack thereof, plays in these heartbreaking situations. When you look at areas like West Englewood, it's not just about the violence itself but also the environment that perpetuates it. How do we expect any community to thrive when resources are so scarce? It feels like the area was a powder keg with a lit fuse, just waiting for a tragedy. I know there are efforts from both the law enforcement side and community leaders, but it seems like more needs to be done to create expansive opportunities for youth. Without access to quality education, stable jobs, and safe recreational spaces, these communities are at a disadvantage. It pains me to see Tomorry, who had his whole life ahead of him, caught in this cycle. Sending strength to his family and hoping for a brighter future where young lives aren't taken so senselessly.
