I still can't wrap my head around the senseless loss of Edgar Romero's life. Driving through the Gage Park neighborhood shouldn't end with such a tragedy. It's truly upsetting to think of how a disagreement turned fatal so quickly, ripping apart Edgar's life and leaving his loved ones to navigate their grief. I can only imagine the pain and confusion his family must be feeling, knowing he was targeted like this. It highlights the urgent need for change in how we address conflicts and the pervasive gun violence in Chicago. My thoughts are with his family, and I hope they find strength in each other and in their memories of Edgar during this incredibly difficult time.
I’ve been going through this case, and it’s just beyond upsetting to think about what happened to Edgar Romero that night. I keep wondering about the two passengers who were with him. Did Edgar know them well? It’s haunting to think that someone you’re with—maybe even trust—can turn on you in an instant.
