I've been following the tragic case of Tina and Deanne McGruder, and one element that just really hit me was how Tina had dedicated her life to serving both her country and her community. As a U.S. Army veteran with two decades of service, she had already given so much, and she'd just begun a new chapter as a counselor with a Master’s degree from Texas A&M-Central Texas. It's hard to fathom how someone who spent her life uplifting others could meet such a tragic end. I can't imagine the pain her colleagues and clients must be feeling, losing not just a coworker or counselor but a genuine, compassionate soul who clearly impacted so many lives. It's so important in these discussions to honor the legacy of those who fall victim to such senseless violence and remember the good they brought into the world. My deepest condolences go out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.
