Has anyone else been thinking about how the lack of security cameras in areas like North Lawndale makes it difficult to solve cases like Corey's? It's so frustrating and sad for the families when there's no footage to help catch the people responsible for these senseless acts. I can't imagine the pain Corey's loved ones must be going through without any clear leads. You'd think in 2017, especially in a city like Chicago, there would be more surveillance in high-crime areas to deter these kinds of incidents or at least help with investigations. Maybe stepping up the push for more community-installed cameras or city funding for surveillance could be a start? I just hope Corey and Jacquez’s families see some form of justice soon. Any thoughts on how we as a community can push for better safety measures?
I've been thinking about the community response following the tragic loss of Corey Hill. It's truly moving to see the way the neighborhood has come together during such a difficult time. Vigil services and community rallies in North Lawndale have been filled with so many people who are determined to make a change and honor the young lives lost. It's evident that despite the many challenges they face, the people in this community have an unbreakable spirit and show immense strength. It's devastating that it takes losses like these to spark such action, but I hope this momentum can lead to lasting change and safer streets for the future. My heart goes out to Corey's family, his friends, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence.
The tragic loss of Corey Hill and Jacquez Mack once again highlights the devastating cycle of violence that grips communities like North Lawndale. The fact that this heinous act occurred in broad daylight with such brazen use of a rifle is chilling. It's a stark reminder of the easy access to high-powered firearms that is all too common. My heart goes out to the families and friends of these young boys who have to endure such pain and injustice.
It's frustrating how the systemic issues in these areas make it nearly impossible for families to find closure. The lack of resources and overwhelmed police force just add another layer of heartbreak to this tragedy. Community efforts are so crucial, yet they struggle against these overwhelming socio-economic barriers. This is a call to action for all of us to push for policies that address the root causes of violence and provide real support for our youth. Corey and Jacquez deserved so much more, and we owe it to them to strive for change. Stay strong, North Lawndale.
