I was reading about Keenan Landis Gill's case and can’t stop thinking about the significance of that balloon release his family and friends organized. It’s such a touching gesture—those balloons soaring into the sky symbolizing hopes for justice and a kind of silent but powerful protest against gun violence. My heart goes out to his family and community, who are grappling with this unimaginable loss while also trying to keep his memory alive. It’s a beautiful way to honor someone’s life, especially during such a difficult time. However, it’s hard to ignore Kimberly Gill's concerns regarding the investigation process. With over 260,000 reports apparently not thoroughly examined, it's terrifying to think about the sheer number of families who might be experiencing the same fear and frustration. I hope that as a community, we can amplify her call for dialing back anger and instead turning that energy into demanding thorough investigations and better allocation of resources to law enforcement. Every victim's case deserves that level of attention. If anyone has any information, please step forward. Keenan, like so many others, deserves justice.
