I've been following Brian McAuley's case, and something that's been on my mind is the condition of his kayak. When it was discovered, it was capsized and anchored. Does anyone know if it’s common for kayaks to be anchored and capsize just like that? I mean, if he anchored it intending to fish or relax, could rough waters have overturned it, or is there possibly more to the story? I'm not an expert, but it strikes me as unusual. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone familiar with the waters around Geiger Key or kayaking in general.
