It’s so difficult to grasp the reality of what’s happening in Chicago. The fact that Ira Johnson became one of the many victims in 2017 is just so devastating. I've been reading up on how these tragedies affect not just the families but entire communities. It's like there's an overwhelming sense of loss and fear blanketing neighborhoods. It’s unimaginable for me to think about what his family must be going through, knowing that their son’s future was stolen in such a senseless way. I remember reading how a lot of these cases just don’t see justice. How is this even possible with so many lives lost? The lack of arrests or convictions feels like an added blow to families already enduring unimaginable grief. It really makes me wonder what more can be done to effectively support law enforcement and community programs in bringing a sense of peace and safety back. There needs to be a stronger emphasis on changing the systemic issues that seem to perpetuate this cycle of violence. Hoping that the conversation around these topics can lead to real change someday.
