I came across Tarrell Whitehead's case and just can't stop thinking about how senseless the violence in our communities has become. Tarrell was just 17 with an entire life ahead of him, filled with dreams and potential that will now never be realized. I can't even begin to imagine the pain his family is going through right now. Seeing a vibrant young life cut short is a stark reminder of how dangerous gun violence remains in our neighborhoods. I read that they haven’t released any details about what happened or if they’ve made arrests. It's frustrating not knowing, and I guess that's part of why there's such a strong call for justice and answers. I hope that Tarrell’s family finds some comfort from the support in the community and on his memorial page. Those of us who didn't know him personally can only send our solidarity, but perhaps that adds up to something. Let's keep his memory alive and push for safer communities where kids can pursue their future without fear.
