Has anyone else been following the story about Officer Darron Burks? It's hard to wrap my head around how someone who dedicated his life to teaching and protecting could be senselessly taken from us. I've been reading about his time as a math teacher before he joined the police force, and it really struck a chord with me. He seems to have been the kind of person every community wishes for—someone who genuinely cared about improving lives, whether it was inside the classroom or out on the streets. It's just deeply unsettling to think about the kind of loss his students, both past and present, must feel. While there’s a lot of focus on the attack itself, I think it’s just as important to remember and honor the positive influence he had on so many people. If any former students of his are here and want to share their stories, it might help all of us keep his memory alive.
