I've been thinking a lot about safety in the Stockyards ever since the tragic loss of Joseph Padilla Jr. It's so overwhelming to hear about a young life, fresh off celebrating a milestone birthday, ending in such an awful way. I can't begin to imagine the devastation his family must be feeling, along with everyone else who was there that night. What's particularly concerning is the escalating violence in areas like the Stockyards, which should be safe havens for communities to enjoy. I've read that local businesses and residents are growing increasingly worried about the lack of security measures. How can we expect people to feel safe when incidents like this occur at places meant for joyful gatherings? No one should have to worry about their safety when they're out celebrating or just spending time with friends. I really hope there’s some action taken to make sure tragedies like this don’t happen again. Joseph and his loved ones deserve justice, and the community needs reassurance that their safety is a priority. My thoughts are with his family and everyone going through this tough time.
