I can't help but feel a deep sense of empathy for Mymy Nhan's family as I think about this tragedy. Imagine going into the Lunar New Year, a time usually filled with joy and celebration, and instead being faced with such a devastating loss. From what I've gathered, Mymy seemed like such a warm and vibrant person. Her love for dance is such a beautiful thing—it’s heartbreaking that her passion was intertwined with this tragic event. I've read reports that the suspect, Tran, hadn't been to the Star Ballroom in years, and it’s baffling that there’s no motive or connection uncovered yet. It's a chilling reminder of how suddenly life can change due to senseless violence. Sending my deepest condolences to Mymy's family and to all the victims and their loved ones affected by this tragedy. A loss like this echoes far beyond the immediate circle—it’s felt by the entire community and even by those of us reading about it from afar. Let's keep their memories alive by continuing to stand against such acts of violence in our communities.

Such a senseless tragedy, and my heart goes out to Mymy Nhan's family. It's just devastating to think that a peaceful evening at a place she loved so dearly ended this way. I was reading some posts earlier about the shooter, and what strikes me as truly horrifying is how such a familiar figure in that community could commit such an atrocity. Tran seems to have left quite the devastating wake in places that were, ironically, central to his own life for so many years. It's unsettling to think he had taken the time to build connections as a dance instructor and perhaps even shared moments of joy at these studios. How does someone turn from being a perceived part of the community to its destroyer? It's a chilling reminder of the hidden struggles or intentions people might harbor without others knowing. I can’t imagine what those who survived that night at the Star Ballroom must be feeling, knowing they walked the floor with both the assailant and victims. There must be so many difficult emotions tied to returning to what should have been a haven of joy and partnership. Hopefully, the community can find some comfort in one another to move forward, remembering those who were lost by continuing to do what brought them together in the first place—dance.
