I recently came across a mention of Gwendolyn “Sue” King while browsing through missing persons cases, and something that really perplexes me is why the authorities refused initially to file a missing persons report back in 1982. It’s like they just brushed her disappearance off! Was there a policy back then that made them less likely to take reports seriously if the person was a teenager, or do you think something else might have influenced their lack of response? Either way, I imagine it must have been incredibly frustrating for her family trying to find help only to hit a wall like that. Given that they even hired a private investigator, it shows how desperate they were to find her. It's baffling that it took until 2022 to get an official report filed. I wonder if there are other cases from that time that were similarly neglected.
