Eileen Jay’s case has always intrigued me, especially the fact that she disappeared right from the middle of NYC. It got me thinking about her mental state during that time, considering she'd recently lost her job and moved to NYC to stay with a friend. It was the '80s, so resources for mental health weren’t as accessible or open as today. I wonder if Eileen had any history of mental health struggles? Or maybe she felt the pressure of trying to find a new job while dealing with that gloomy February weather in New York. It's unsettling that even her friend mentioned no issues during her stay, yet she vanished so abruptly. Does anyone know if there were any psychiatric hospitals near West End Avenue in the '80s where she might have sought help? It makes me wonder if something like that could’ve played a role in her disappearance. Any thoughts?

Hey everyone, has anyone else been looking into Eileen Jay's disappearance? I've been going over her case and something that strikes me as especially puzzling is her choice of clothing the last day she was seen. A tweed suit and a raincoat? It's not exactly casual attire for a quick visit to a friend's place or a day out in the city. Could it suggest she had an important meeting or plan that required dressing up? Maybe someone she didn't share even with her friend? If anyone's got thoughts or any insights into fashion trends back in February 1983 that might shed light on this, I'd love to hear them! Seems like a small detail, but maybe it's a piece of the puzzle we've overlooked.

Has anyone else looked into the possibility that Eileen Jay might have just needed to get out of town after losing her job? I know a lot of people feel trapped in their circumstances and it might seem like disappearing is the only option. But the thing that strikes me is the timing. She was at her friend's place in NYC for almost a week, so it seems like she had a safe space if she needed it. It's odd that she'd up and leave without taking advantage of that when she was going through a rough patch. Could she have met someone during that visit who offered her a new opportunity somewhere else? I know these cases are complex, but it seems like there might have been more going on under the surface that wasn't obvious to those around her.
