I recently came across the tragic case of Julian Carillo-Garcia, and it has been on my mind how his family, especially his wife, must be feeling right now. Losing a loved one in such a sudden and violent manner is unimaginable. I can’t stop thinking about the community response too—how beautiful yet somber the vigils must have been. It’s moving to see so many people come together to say goodbye and call for justice on his behalf. I’m curious if anyone knows more about the impact these events have had on his neighborhood or the broader Oakland community. It makes me wonder how many more tragedies like this can be prevented, and what more can be done to support both the families affected and the ongoing efforts to combat gun violence. My heart goes out to the Carillo-Garcia family and everyone touched by this senseless act.
