Hey everyone, It's truly a somber reminder of how drastically life can change in an instant when I think about the 2017 tragedy in Bronzeville. I can't get over how Alfred Mitchell Jr.'s brave actions during the chaos often go overlooked in discussions. It's hard to imagine the terror and split-second decisions he must have faced at that neighborhood barbecue. From what I’ve read, Alfred tried to shield others that night, a true testament to his character according to those who knew him. It’s always devastating to hear about young lives ending far too soon and thinking about what kind of future he could have had. It's even more perplexing that we're still in the dark about the motive all these years later. Hopefully, with the arrest in 2024, some answers—if not peace—will come for his family and friends who have lived with not only grief but questions. Has anyone else come across more about Alfred’s background or efforts in the community? I'd love to learn more about the positive impact he had on people’s lives, beyond this tragedy.
