I’ve been thinking a lot about the tragic loss of Stephanie Najera and how the community has come together in response. It’s so moving to see how many people showed up at her visitation to pay their respects and support her family during such a devastating time. I didn’t know Stephanie personally, but from what I've read, she seemed like someone who touched the lives of many around her. The question that really haunts me is how someone could commit such a senseless act of violence and simply vanish without a trace. How is it that there are no descriptions or leads on a suspect yet? I hope anyone who might have heard or seen something—no matter how small it might seem—feels compelled to come forward. Stephanie and her loved ones deserve answers, and whoever is responsible for this needs to be held accountable. It’s comforting in a way to see the unwavering determination of both the El Monte Police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, but it’s also frustrating to think about how long these cases can take without new information. I’ll be keeping Stephanie’s family in my thoughts and hoping for a breakthrough in the investigation soon. No one should have to endure what they’re going through right now.
