I just wanted to share some thoughts about the live stream of the vigil that took place in Tehachapi for Deputy Harmonson. Watching so many people gather to honor and remember him was truly moving. It’s evident that he touched many lives during his 16 years with the KCSO. Seeing his colleagues speak about his professionalism and dedication was a testament to the person he was. What struck me most were the personal stories shared by members of the community. Several people spoke about moments when Ben went above and beyond his duty, showing kindness and compassion, even off-duty encounters where he made a difference. It’s these little stories that really paint a full picture of who he was, beyond just his professional achievements. Although it’s heartbreaking to see how his story ended, I think these gatherings help keep his memory alive and bring comfort to those who are deeply affected. Let's keep supporting each other and continue the conversation about mental health, especially in high-stress professions like law enforcement.
