It's really moving to see how the Sacramento community has rallied around Colby Tevis's family during such a tough time. While attending some of the vigils, I was struck by the stories people shared about Colby's kindness and ambition. It’s clear he touched many lives, and his dream of becoming a sportscaster was something he genuinely worked hard for. The fact that his life was tragically cut short during a celebration—a time that should have been filled with joy—makes it all the more senseless. It's so important that we keep the conversation around gun violence alive, especially given that Colby wasn't the only victim that weekend. Mayor Steinberg’s call for action highlights the sad reality many communities face, and I sincerely hope we're seeing a turning point here. To Colby’s family and friends, and even to those who were celebrating with him that night, my thoughts are with you. As the trial progresses, I hope seeing justice pursued brings some degree of peace to everyone affected.
