I've been following the tragic case of Deetta Weaver, and my heart truly goes out to her family and friends. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they must be going through right now. I wanted to discuss something that may not have been highlighted yet: the impact on the deputies who arrived at the scene. First responders often deal with traumatic situations like this, and it must have been incredibly intense for the Roane County Sheriff's deputies that night. Not only did they discover Deetta, tragically taken so young, but they also faced gunfire during an already tense situation. We should appreciate the composure they maintained in convincing the suspect to surrender without further violence. It's a stark reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face and the emotional toll it can take on them, too. I hope they have access to support and counseling as they process what happened that night. My thoughts remain with all those affected by this senseless act of violence.
