I've been following the tragic case of Semaj Berry and couldn't help but reflect on the impact his death has had not just on his family but on the entire Chatham community. I keep thinking about the support systems that are often lacking for our youth in these neighborhoods. It seems like there's a real need for more accessible after-school programs or mentorship opportunities that could provide guidance and alternatives to the path of violence. Just thinking about all the young potential that's lost when someone like Semaj is taken too soon... it really drives home the urgency for change. I hope the city can invest more in preventive measures that address the root causes. My thoughts are with Semaj's loved ones during what I'm sure is an incredibly difficult time.
