I've been following the Gregory T. Manning II case closely, and I can't stop thinking about the role of those who were just "present" in the apartment during the shooting. It's really unsettling to think about how a simple gathering could turn into such a tragic event. I wonder if any of them could have intervened or called for help sooner.
It's easy to feel torn about people who find themselves in these situations. On one hand, they might have been terrified and not known what to do. On the other hand, their silence could be seen as complicity. It's such a terrifying reminder of how quickly things can escalate, and how vital it is for young people to feel empowered to de-escalate situations or seek help without fear.
My heart goes out to Gregory's family and friends. None of this can be easy for them, especially knowing multiple young lives are now forever changed by this incident. I hope for justice, but I also hope for healing and change to prevent such senseless tragedies in the future.
