I’ve been following the case of Anthonese “Niecy” Stewart and her father, Gary Newman, and I can’t stop thinking about the courage Gary showed in his final moments. Losing a child is a parent's worst nightmare, and trying to protect Niecy must have been instinctual for him. It’s unimaginable what their family is going through right now, and I hope they find some solace in knowing that Gary acted with love and bravery. Reading about the incident has really highlighted for me how critical it is to address domestic violence more seriously. It’s such a stark reminder of the reality that many face, and it breaks my heart to think about the risks that victims encounter every day. I hope this tragedy encourages more people to come forward to support initiatives against domestic violence and push for changes that could prevent such senseless violence in the future. My thoughts go out to Niecy and Gary’s family, and I hope justice is served in their memory.
