I’ve been following the tragic events surrounding Zachery Herrera and John Goosie with a heavy heart. It’s so deeply unsettling to see how a night outside what should have been a safe environment turned into such a nightmare. I wanted to take a moment to discuss Steven Davis and the role he played. While Kevin Matthews was the one who pulled the trigger, I find it concerning that Davis was involved at any level, especially considering his past violations and his decision to hang around with such a dangerous individual. What troubled me the most is the thought of what could have been if someone had intervened earlier in his life to steer him onto a better path. Instead, it seems his past caught up with him, and now two families are in immense pain due to these irreversible actions. My thoughts are with Zachery’s and John’s loved ones as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. Stay strong, Knoxville.
