Philly folks, I'm struggling to make sense of the Kingsessing tragedy from last year. It's haunting to hear about Daujan Brown's actions in those final moments—he was just 15 but showed such immense courage. Sacrificing himself to protect a friend is an act of pure selflessness that speaks volumes about his character. I can’t stop thinking about his mother, Nyshyia, and the pain she must be going through, losing a son who was so loved by everyone in the community. Having folks like Tyrique Glasgow speak about him and his brave actions reminds us of the potential that was so unfairly taken away. Does anyone else feel that this incident underscores how critical it is for us to push for real change in gun regulations? Having someone with a prior gun conviction still manage to get access to firearms is just mind-boggling. But beyond that, mental health support and intervention are so vital. It’s such a tough pill to swallow, realizing that much more needs to be done to bridge these gaps. Keeping Daujan and all the other victims in my thoughts. ❤️
