I've been following the tragic case of Michael and Deborah Oliver in Canadensis, and something that's really sticking with me is the sheer disbelief expressed by everyone who knew them. It's unfathomable to imagine a couple who seemed to have such a solid life together ending up in such a horrific situation. I came across some interviews with Michael’s fellow carpenters, and they spoke about how he always had a project going on with someone in the neighborhood. Deborah would often bring over baked goods for everyone to enjoy while they worked. It seems they made such a lovely team and were truly embedded in their community. What gets me is how they were found—outside on their deck. That space must have held so many cherished memories for them, enjoying sunny afternoons and quiet evenings. It's gut-wrenching to think it's now the site of something so tragic. My thoughts are with their family and friends who now have to navigate life without this cherished couple. I hope the investigation brings clarity and some semblance of peace to those who knew and loved them.
