I've been following this case closely, and something that really sticks out to me is the role of the firearm in this tragic event. It's so unsettling to think about how easy it was for Gordon to access a weapon registered to a family member. I can’t imagine the anguish this has caused on both sides of the family. It's a reminder of the responsibility that comes with owning a firearm, especially when others might have access to it. The fact that the gun ended up with a minor is deeply concerning. How does this keep happening? I really hope this aspect is thoroughly investigated, not just in terms of Gordon's own accountability, but also how the gun got into those hands afterward. Perhaps policies or initiatives could be implemented to prevent situations like this in the future. At the end of the day, a young life was lost, and his family is left to pick up the pieces. No parent should have to bury their child. My thoughts are with Emerald's loved ones, and I hope they receive the justice and peace they deserve.
