Another angle that's been on my mind is the impact this tragedy had on the local community, especially with the PACE of the Triad facility going into lockdown. It must have been terrifying for both the staff and the seniors being so close to such a violent event. I can't even begin to imagine the worry their families must have felt until things were resolved and everyone was safe. It's a reminder of how acts of violence ripple outward and affect so many lives beyond those directly involved. My heart truly goes out to Joshua Nealy's family and friends, as well as the community members who had to navigate this scare. Does anyone know if the facility has added any additional safety measures since the incident? I think community safety needs to be part of our ongoing conversation here.

I've been following the case of Joshua Nealy, and while the details get more upsetting each time I read about them, my thoughts keep going back to the impact on PACE of the Triad. It's terrifying to think about how the seniors and staff there must have felt during the lockdown. These are folks who rely on PACE for a sense of community and safety, and for an incident like this to unfold so close to their doorstep must have been unsettling. I'm glad no one there was harmed, but I can't imagine how shaken the community must feel. Their day of care turned into a day of fear. It's a reminder of how violence ripples through and touches lives beyond just those directly involved. Keeping the Nealy family and everyone affected in my thoughts.
