I keep thinking about the location where Tomani was killed. It's just so disturbing that such a violent act took place in broad daylight at that intersection, where people regularly walk by or wait for buses. It’s a spot that so many pass through daily — it’s chilling to imagine what those present must have witnessed and how unsafe they might feel now. I can't even begin to comprehend the pain and shock his family must be enduring, knowing their loved one was attacked so close to home. My heart goes out to them and to everyone who has lost a sense of security in that area. It’s frustrating to see our community repeatedly plagued by violence, especially when it impacts young lives with so much ahead of them. I hope more voices join the growing calls for effective measures to protect our streets and schools. Stay strong, Mount Vernon — we need change more than ever.
