Hey everyone, just wanted to discuss the community's response to the tragic shooting of Ashley Ballard and Harry Mendoza. I've been reading through some local news articles and noticed several neighbors have voiced their concerns about mental health resources in East Harlem. It seems like there's a growing awareness that these issues need to be addressed to maybe prevent future tragedies. It's just so unsettling to think this happened in an area surrounded by schools and parks—places that should be safe and welcoming. It makes you wonder about the ongoing challenges in the area and what changes need to happen for things to improve. The community appears to be coming together, but it's clear more support is required, both in terms of safety and mental health services. Do any of you think investing more in community programs and mental health support might help reduce this kind of violence? I’m interested to hear your thoughts, especially those of you who might be familiar with the area or have seen similar initiatives make a difference elsewhere. Stay safe out there, everyone.
