I've been following the discussion about the tragic incident at the Phillips 66 on Independence Avenue, and it's so unsettling to think about how quickly a normal morning can turn into a nightmare. It makes me wonder about the availability of mental health resources and conflict resolution education. There must have been dozens of ways that argument could have been diffused, yet it ended in such senseless tragedy. I hope the investigation brings justice to Nicholas and Reginald's families, but beyond that, I hope it sparks some real change in how disputes are handled in public spaces. My heart goes out to their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. If anyone has any thoughts about how we might improve community safety, I'd be interested to hear them.
