Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking a lot about the location of where Dyamund Shields Jr. was killed. That intersection at 27th Street and Prospect Avenue has such a notorious reputation—we’ve all heard stories about the crime in that area. But what I can't shake off is how neglected parts of some communities are when it comes to safety measures. It bothers me that places like this can become hotbeds for violence, and yet real change seems so slow to happen.

It’s like this specific corner has been crying out for attention for years, and sadly now, another young life has been lost there. I feel for Dyamund's family and friends having to deal with this senseless act, especially when we all kind of know what a rough spot that area has been. I wonder if increased lighting or surveillance could make any difference or if it's just not that simple.

Have any others here seen similar issues resolved in their neighborhoods? Or do you also feel like certain areas are just being abandoned until something tragic forces change? It's tough to even think about, but maybe awareness and community action can push things in a better direction eventually. Let's hope answers come soon for Dyamund and his loved ones. Stay safe out there.
