I’ve been following the case of Deondre Jermaine Spinks, and something that keeps coming up in my mind is the community’s response, or rather the lack of it. I live not too far from Glen Allen, and it’s baffling to me how quiet things have been around here since the shooting. You’d expect that in a close-knit area like this, there would be more chatter or even a vigil or something to honor his life and support his family, yet I haven’t heard a peep outside of the news. It’s deeply saddening to think that a loving father and diligent worker’s life could be so abruptly ended, and the streets remain silent. I get it might be fear or just the shock of tragedy, but it feels like his story is at risk of slipping through the cracks. It’s crucial for the community to rally together, not only to possibly aid the investigation but also to show that we care and won’t let violence like this go ignored. Let’s not forget Deondre or his little girl who will grow up without her father. Please, if anyone in Henrico or surrounding areas has any information or footage, consider sharing it with the police. Even the smallest detail could make a difference. My thoughts are with his family during this excruciatingly difficult time. ?
