Hey everyone, I just came across Billy Joe Russell's case, and something that's been bugging me is the location he chose to live—an abandoned auto shop in New Orleans. It got me wondering, why there? Was it just a roof over his head, or did he have a specific reason to be in that area? Could there maybe have been a community or other homeless folks he connected with there? Sometimes these places are not as isolated as they seem. Maybe someone from that vicinity might have seen or heard something. If anyone knows about any informal networks or support systems among the homeless in that area, it might be worth looking into. Thoughts?
Hey everyone, I’ve been following Billy Joe Russell's case and something’s been really bugging me about his choice of living arrangements. Considering he was known for living in an abandoned auto shop, could he have possibly moved into another similar location? I know it's New Orleans, so there might be a lot of abandoned places that are hard to track. Has anyone looked into other possible spots he might have moved to? Could it be that he knew a network of people who used these kinds of places? Maybe reaching out to local organizations that assist the homeless might provide some clues. Just a thought - would love to hear what others think.
Did anyone else find it strange that Billy Joe Russell chose to be homeless by choice and lived in an old auto shop to collect mail? I get wanting independence and maybe even the allure of a minimalist lifestyle, but it seems like such a peculiar decision, especially for someone who kept regular communication with family. Moving to New Orleans makes me wonder if he was running from something or someone. The fact that he mentioned he was no longer at the auto shop but didn't say why or where he was moving to strikes me as odd. Could he have met someone new, or was there some reason he felt he couldn't stay there anymore? It's baffling how no trace of him has been found since. Curious if anyone else has ideas about why he'd up and leave like that without more explanation?
