Hey everyone, I’ve been following the case of Marcelino Mendez-Perez, and something that's been on my mind is the role the local environment might have played in his disappearance. Falfurrias is notorious for its harsh conditions, and with the sweltering heat and miles of tough terrain, it's easy to see how someone could get disoriented or overwhelmed quickly.
Marcelino was last seen on September 2, 2021, and there’s been no trace of him since. Given the number of people who go missing in that region while attempting to cross into the U.S., it's a stark reminder of just how dangerous these paths can be. So many migrants risk everything against these odds—heat, wildlife, and lack of water—not to mention trying to avoid detection.
