I can't stop thinking about how the community is responding to Melvin Rich III's passing. It's gut-wrenching to see how fear and violence can affect people's daily lives. Samuel Cornish Sr.'s remarks about young people carrying guns for protection or due to increased crime during certain seasons sheds light on the environment many residents face. It's clear that systemic issues contribute to the tragedy we’re witnessing, and it’s hard not to feel for everyone trapped in this cycle of violence. I hope people in the area find the courage and support to reach out with any information to help solve this case. Melvin’s family deserves answers and a measure of peace, and the community deserves to feel safe. If anyone around North Carey Street knows something, please consider contacting the authorities.
