I've been thinking a lot about Devon McKinney and the tragic circumstances surrounding his death. It's incredible to see how the community rallied for his memorial at St. Gabriel's Church. I didn't know Devon personally, but from what everyone who attended the service has shared, he seemed like a warm-hearted person who touched many lives. One aspect that struck me was how peaceful the visitation and funeral services were, given the violence that took his life. It just shows how his family and friends are finding strength in honoring him in such a dignified way. Communities in Milwaukee, and across the country, deal with gun violence far too often. Devon's case highlights not just the need for justice, but also for meaningful change to prevent future tragedies. Sending all my thoughts to his loved ones during this profoundly difficult time.
