I came across this case, and it's just so difficult to wrap my head around the idea of a son being involved in something so tragic involving his own parents, Jan and David Metzig. It seems like everyone in Wolf River had some sort of connection to them or their Union Star Cheese Factory. I can't imagine the profound sense of loss and confusion their friends and family must be dealing with. In particular, I'm curious about the motive behind this tragedy. From what I've read, the notebook found in Erik's room had detailed plans for the murders, which is chilling in itself. But what would drive someone to plot against those who brought them into this world and who were apparently well-respected community members? It makes you wonder what the family dynamics were and if there were any signs that something so drastic could happen. For the community, it's not only the loss of two beloved individuals but also the confusion of how and why such an event could unfold within a seemingly tight-knit family. If anyone has insight or more information about possible motives, I'd be interested to know. It's sorrowful all the way around, and my thoughts are with everyone grappling with this senseless act.
