I’ve been following the case of Kenneth Omar Irizarry-Pardo and Miguel A. Velez, and it’s truly devastating to think about the void left in their families and community. Something that really sticks with me is the location of the shooting. We all know some areas in our cities can become hotspots for violence, but what can we do as a community to make them safer? I've seen people talk about the need for addressing systemic issues, but on a local level, it’s so crucial for neighborhoods to come together. Community groups, local leaders, and residents need to work hand-in-hand to reclaim their streets and support each other. While it's easier said than done, every small step can potentially save a life. To those grieving, I can’t imagine the pain you're going through. Hopefully, discussing the broader issues might help in some way and renew the push for change. If anyone has suggestions or knows of initiatives making a difference in Milwaukee or elsewhere, sharing those could be a constructive way for everyone to channel their sorrow into action.
