I've been following the case of Catalina Jimenez, and my heart goes out to her friends, family, and colleagues. Something that sticks with me is how this tragic event happened during what seemed like a routine morning activity—carpooling with a friend. It really underscores how domestic violence can invade every aspect of a victim's life, catching them and those around them completely off-guard, even in their safest spaces. I can't imagine what her coworker must be going through, knowing they were probably anticipating just another typical day at work. I hope this tragedy really pushes for those highlighted resources and protections for those in abusive situations. Rest in peace, Catalina, and I pray for everyone affected by this, especially those left to pick up the pieces.
