Hey everyone, I've been thinking about how the community has come together in the wake of Amya Monserrat's tragic passing. It's incredibly moving to see the efforts people have put into honoring her memory, from candlelight vigils to mural paintings around Youngstown. It speaks volumes about the impact she had on those around her. One particular story that caught my attention was how her friends have been organizing cheerleading events to raise awareness about violence and its consequences. They want to use Amya's love for cheerleading to spread a positive message, and I think that's such a beautiful way to celebrate her passion and keep her spirit alive. As a parent myself, my heart goes out to Jaismin and Jose’. I can't even begin to comprehend the kind of pain they're experiencing. It must be comforting, though, to see how their daughter touched so many lives and continues to inspire positive change.
