Just wanted to share some thoughts about the recent tragic loss of Shamari Mingo. I never knew her personally, but I've been following the news and can't stop thinking about how someone so young could have their life cut short like that. It's so clear from what everyone’s saying that she was truly special, full of potential and a bright future. My heart goes out to her family, especially Rev. Peterson Mingo. I can't imagine the pain they’re going through, losing someone they cherished so deeply. It’s incredibly alarming to see the increase in gun violence affecting the youth in Cincinnati. 39 minors shot and this year’s not even over yet—it’s terrifying. It must be hard for families to feel safe, and it’s devastating that a girl on her way home from work has to become part of these statistics. I really hope the community continues to come together to support each other and work towards meaningful changes. Changes are so needed so that more families don't have to endure such loss. Hug your loved ones tight.

Did anyone else read about the vigil held for Shamari Mingo on July 8th? I was deeply moved by the community's response and the turnout to support her family in such a painful time. The fact that Rev. Peterson Mingo is still pushing forward with his anti-violence initiatives, even while grieving, is incredibly inspiring. It's terrifying to think about how incidents like these don't seem to be slowing down. My heart goes out to everyone affected, most importantly Shamari's family and friends who are left to navigate this loss. What more can we do to support efforts against this rising youth violence trend? It feels like just attending vigils and lending our moral support aren't enough anymore. Any thoughts or suggestions from folks in similar communities?
