I came across the case of Eric Smith and felt compelled to share my thoughts about his profound impact on his community. Eric wasn’t just another name on the list of unsolved cases; he was a pillar for many young people in Cleveland, especially those he mentored through boxing at Cudell Rec. It breaks my heart to see someone who has given so much to his community gone due to senseless violence. I wonder if there’s been enough focus on the neighborhood connection? Often, those who commit these acts are known within the community. With Eric’s deep ties and influence, it’s hard to imagine that no one has come forward with information. Could fear or misplaced loyalty be at play here? We can only hope that someone who Eric once supported will now support him by stepping forward with vital information. Thinking of Eric’s family – Derrick, Todd, Nicole, and Betty – and sending prayers for justice and peace.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a few thoughts about Eric Smith. I've been following his story with the rest of you, and something that really stands out to me is his role as a mentor and coach at Cudell Rec. It's evident that Eric was much more than just a coach; he was like family to many of the young people there. The nickname "Uncle E" really says it all. It's heartbreaking to think about those kids who looked up to him and now have to cope with his sudden absence. One can only imagine the positive impact he had on their lives, not just through boxing, but by being a consistent and supportive figure. It's such a loss for that community, and I hope they find some way to honor his memory and continue the work he was so passionate about. If anyone has thoughts about how we could support them, I'm all ears. Sending love and strength to Eric’s family and friends during this challenging time.
