I've been following the case of Jamir Thompkins, and like many of you, I'm struggling to wrap my head around the tragedy. It's incredibly difficult to comprehend how quickly lives can change and the ripple effect that violence has on everyone involved. My heart goes out to Jamir's family—just imagining someone you love being taken from you in such a sudden manner is almost too much to bear. What's been on my mind lately is the environment these kids are growing up in. I've read a few articles and some community posts, and it seems like there's a lot more going on under the surface in Bond Hill than many of us might understand. Are any of you familiar with what local organizations or community efforts are in place to support these young people? It feels like there's a crucial opportunity here to engage with the youth in this neighborhood to prevent senseless acts like this in the future. Hoping that some positive change can come from such a devastating event.
