I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how devastating this must be for Zain's family and friends. I can't begin to imagine the pain they're going through right now. It sounds like he was loved by many in his community, as evidenced by the overwhelming support in the form of donations and messages on the GoFundMe page. But here's something that's really been nagging at me: how on earth did these kids get their hands on a gun? Just thinking about this makes my stomach turn, knowing this could have been prevented if it weren't for that one piece of machinery falling into the wrong hands. It's critical for us as a community to question and look deeper into how firearms are stored and accessed in our neighborhoods. All I hope is that through this case, we can bring about awareness and change so no other family has to endure this kind of loss. My thoughts are with Zain's family during this incredibly tough time.
