I've been following the tragic case of little Lawrencia Lorene Belair, and I can't get over how incredibly preventable her death was. It's such an overwhelming loss for her family, and my heart goes out to them, especially Mariann, despite the legal consequences she's facing. I think this case really sheds light on the broader issue of gun safety in homes with children. It's so easy to think "this won't happen to me," but accidents like these show how vital it is to ensure firearms are securely stored, out of reach, and out of sight. Lockboxes, trigger locks, and education on safe gun storage need to be a priority to keep kids safe. I hope that out of this tragedy, more awareness can be raised to prevent similar events in other families. Keep safe out there, everyone. ?
