I'm devastated for Kennedi Belton’s family and friends; my heart truly goes out to them. Attending a sleepover, a place of safety and joy, only to face such a tragic incident is unimaginable. I’d like to discuss the alarming presence of "ghost guns." The fact that someone can come into possession of a gun without a serial number is deeply concerning. This makes it much harder for authorities to trace where the weapon came from, creating dangerous situations like the one we saw with Kennedi. It’s unsettling to think how easily such a weapon can end up in the wrong hands. I hope this case encourages stronger control and awareness surrounding these "ghost guns." It’s heartbreaking to see a young life lost and a family shattered because of this. Hoping for healing and justice for Kennedi's loved ones.
Has anyone else been following the Kennedi Belton case? My heart really goes out to her friends and family during this incredibly difficult time. While the entire situation is so tragic, what really struck me was the fact that the gun involved was a "ghost gun." It’s terrifying to think how easily these untraceable weapons can end up in the wrong hands. How many more lives have to be affected for significant changes to be made in terms of gun control?
The fact that it happened during a sleepover, a place where kids should feel safest, is just beyond saddening. It’s a tough reminder of how fragile life is and how quickly things can change. I really hope this tragedy prompts more discussions about preventing these kinds of accidents. My thoughts are with Kennedi's loved ones and the whole Warren Easton High School community as they navigate the aftermath.
I'm just heartbroken over the unnecessary loss of this bright young soul. Having a 15-year-old myself, I can't even begin to imagine the pain and confusion Kennedi's family must be going through. It hits close to home and serves as a grim reminder of how crucial firearm safety and awareness are.
When I read about Andre Skinner supposedly "playing" with the gun, it makes me think about the gaps in education and responsibility regarding firearms. This didn't need to happen. It's striking to learn that a ghost gun was involved—no serial number, and practically untraceable. It scares me to know such weapons are out there, accessible to anyone.
My thoughts are with Kennedi's family and friends. I hope this sparks conversations about gun safety, especially among our youth, to prevent tragedies like this from ever happening again. Stay strong, New Orleans community.
