Hey everyone,
I recently read about Joshua L. Chism, who was killed at just 21, and it really sat with me how much he seemed to have touched those around him. I noticed that his teacher, Pastor J. Farrell, spoke so fondly of him, which makes me think about the strong student-teacher bonds that can form. It's always powerful to hear teachers speak about their former students with such admiration. It sounds like Joshua's potential and kindness left a lasting impression. This just makes his passing even harder to fathom. I hope those who loved him find comfort and strength in each other during such a difficult time. Gun violence has taken another bright light from us too soon. If anyone has ways we can support the family or community, please share.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Joshua’s case and how impactful Pastor J. Farrell’s words were during the service. It sounds like Joshua was truly special to those around him, leaving such a lasting impression even at a young age. I can't help but reflect on how teachers can sometimes see a side of kids that even family and close friends might not—those moments where a student shines with potential. Pastor Farrell seemed to capture that essence of Joshua perfectly, which speaks volumes about the kind of person Joshua must've been. My heart goes out to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. It’s so important to keep talking about Joshua, not only to remember him but also to honor who he was and who he could have been.
