I’ve been following the case of Corporal Shawn Kevin Kelly, and my heart goes out to his family, friends, and colleagues. This tragedy truly underscores the monumental challenges our law enforcement officers face every day, even during what might seem like a routine call. What stood out to me was Corporal Kelly's long-standing commitment to his community; his 29 years of service speak volumes about his dedication. As someone from a family of service members, I understand the sacrifice and dedication required. It’s so important that we support our police departments as they cope with this loss and face the difficulties in recruitment and retention. The ripple effect of such events touches so many lives, and I hope that in the wake of this heartbreaking event, there are efforts to ensure officers have the resources and support they need on and off the field. Sending strength to everyone affected. ?
