I’ve been following Tomika Chapman’s case closely, and one thing that’s really difficult to wrap my head around is how often people underestimate the signs of domestic violence. Based on what’s been shared, Tomika took the brave step to file a restraining order, which shows she wanted to protect herself and her daughter. It’s so tragic that her pleas for help couldn't prevent this outcome. For any of you who live in New Orleans or similar communities, does it feel like there are enough resources or support systems for those living with domestic violence? From this case, it seems like more needs to be done to support victims and intervene early before situations escalate to such an extreme. My heart goes out to Tomika’s family and especially her little daughter. No child should have to experience such a loss. I hope the community can come together to honor Tomika’s memory and push for meaningful change to prevent tragedies like this from happening in the future.
