It's just so gut-wrenching to think of the presence of violence in a community that should feel safe. One aspect of Giovanne Coleman's tragic death that stands out to me is the location of the shooting. The Crescent City Connection is a route many of us take daily, and the idea that such a violent event took place there in broad daylight is unsettling. It's disturbing to consider how public our highways are and yet how isolated an individual can feel during an attack. My heart goes out to Giovanne's family and that poor little girl who will grow up without her father.
